Waters are calling me.
Seas are calling me.
All distances raise a bodily voice and call me,
And all seafaring ages out of the past are calling me.

| One of many such streets in Lagos. |
| Beach! |
| Beautiful but a bit chilly in the late afternoon light. |
| I hope these pictures aren't getting too repetitive. I'm try to exercise a bit of restraint and cut a few! |
| And the moon was out - such a perfect evening. |
| Not what I expected to read spray-painted on a wall! (Cf. Proverbs 3:14) |
| Looking over towards Meia Praia. |
| Excursion to Burgau. |
| A fisherman getting a little salt water for his efforts. |
| I understand that grilled sardines are a Portuguese specialty, but I have yet to summon the courage to try them. The salted cod in the markets, however, frightens me far more! |
| Took a little hike above Burgau. |
| So many pristine beaches along the Algarve. |
| A lone walker in the distance. |
| I could see fixing this up as a summer home. Plant some grapes and olives, raise some chickens... Learn to ride a motor bike! |
| Looking back down at Burgau. |
| German for postbox, apparently...? |
| And this is the day I walked down to the end of Meia Praia and back (didn't quite make it to the other end of the beach, but all told, walking from the old town part of Lagos, I still reckon I walked about 10k). |
| Possibly Portimão in the distance? |
| Old Lagos near sunset. |
As of this morning, I decided to supplement my reading of the Psalms with the book of Ruth, and I was struck again by the astounding beauty of the prose and poetry to be found in the Bible. Tell me you're not moved by this passage.
"But Ruth said: 'Do not urge me to leave you or to return from following you. For where you go I will go, and where you lodge I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there will I be buried. May the Lord do so to me and more also if anything but death parts me from you.'"
[Ruth 1:16-17]
