La Mer

First of all, you need to understand that Joey and I came to Cannes with high expectations.

We were not disappointed.

Why does the moon look so tiny?

Starting the day off right.

The waterfront.

We thought of you, Uncle Brad, while we were in Cannes. And we went for a run, although not at this juncture :)

The face of ultimate food happiness.

Rabbit in red wine sauce.

L'Enoteca.

Check out the guy against the wall. He liked to smoke and pose.

We wandered around among the yachts.

Blue lights underneath. Cause, reasons.

Sadly, no one invited us aboard.

I'm so fancy . . . I'm on a boat.

Nice is nice. (Think about it...)

Where's Molly?

Goodbye, Cannes.

Look at how clear the water is, even from however many thousand feet up.

. . . For my purpose holds
To sail beyond the sunset, and the baths
Of all the western stars, until I die.
[Ulysses, Alfred, Lord Tennyson]

Many thanks to Joey for taking quite a few of these shots.

Up next: Molly and Joey venture to Germany. Will they survive the bratwurst?

Rivers and Roads

The LONG awaited Tour de France. I didn't realize I'd come hours early until I felt like I'd committed to waiting.

But I saw them! For like 20 seconds.

Cool looking bar on a boat.

Bus sign made of Legos.

Eva, Bonnie, and I, having Turkish food before watching The Crucible. So much culture ;)

A studio copy of the DeLorean from Back to the Future.

Installation at the new Foyles Books bookstore.

I think my friend Annabel from my writing course is right--it's a little too sterile.

And now, we come to Lyon, France, where Molly and Joey rendezvous for the beginning of an epic cultural and gustatory adventure in Europe!

Our studio apartment in Lyon.

A very weary traveler repping USC.

We may or may not have tried spitting from this window.

My attempt at a selfie.

The River Saône

Dinner at Daniel et Denise.

Pirate candy? #Yes

It was a bit of a hike to get this view!

La Basilique Notre Dame de Fourvière

Some Roman rocks.

The second picture is a better one of Joey, but this is a better one of his Purrito shirt.

There was a girl doing acrobatics on a swing in that crazy stick-nest looking thing.

Colors!

Notre Dame de Fourvière, from across the river.

Joey was brave enough to stick his feet in, even though no one else seemed to be doing it.
The road goes ever on and on. On the third day, we took a train from Lyon to Marseilles and from there to Cannes.

View over Cannes.

Me creepily taking a picture of people enjoying a meal on their balcony.

So in love with this part of the world!

We like big boats and we don't care who knows!

Game faces.

We stayed at a place kinda around on the left side of that hill.

Lookin' good.

ÃŽle Sainte-Marguerite

Parasailing--one day, Joey and I will do this, but it was not destined to be on this trip.

That guy is in the moment.

Amazing colors to the water!

Looking back towards Cannes.

My brother, ladies and gentlemen.

I couldn't choose between them.

Look at this prisoner I found.

The mysterious man in the iron mask was held in this fortress.

It was hot. We needed some Schweppes (which I have been informed is pronounced Sh-veps).

How can you not feel more relaxed just looking at this?

Looking Across to St. Honorat, where there is a monastery and the monks make wine, apparently. I really need to come back to Cannes and go to this island!

We made it back (all half a mile) to the mainland. Picture of a cute little car, just because.
