seaside & eastertide

Brighton!

Sunshine + ocean?!

The beach was a bit rocky...

...But hey, it's a beach!

I call this photograph, "Lamppost, fancy buildings, and a man reading a book."

Frank came to visit for Easter weekend! And we were so busy having fun that we didn't do a very good job of taking pictures.

But here's a pretty decent one--better of him than me ;)
WORDS FOR EASTER
Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.

variations on a theme called sunshine

Work is love made visible. For if you bake bread with indifference, you bake a bitter bread that feeds but half a man's hunger.

Probably have taken one too many pictures of St. Paul's Cathedral.

Then again, is that possible?

Perfect afternoon for a walk along the Southbank. I even ventured close to the river.

Sarah and I perched on the side of Tower Bridge to see the elite men run by.

Lovely sunshine for the London Marathon. Though possibly the runners weren't as thrilled as we were about that.

This was mile 22 or 23. The first men were there around 1:47:54.

First two.

A few people--watching/running.

Sunday picnic in Regent's Park.

I was going for candids, like Stevie always does.

But we had to pose...

...more than once.

Love the random graffiti/street art. It says: "I wish I had done everything on earth with you..."

Lake Geneva from the coach.

Sandra and Chris are...excited?

Iain, myself, and Min.

Our lovely chalet.

Zermatt.

First of MANY shots of the Matterhorn.

Sandra and Kim.

Sandra and Wolli.

Oh yes, we're skiing!

Mike, who came all the way from Hawaii.

Tried, but failed, to get a picture of the band through the glass partition :P

Took my own little detour down the mountain by accident, and eventually came to this pretty cool place.

Snow and sunshine <3 br="">

That's Kim and I over on the right hand side.

Some kind of deer?

Was hoping it was a Chamois, but don't think it was.

Lunch at Etoile on the Italian side (near Cervinia).

Sandra and Chris. Sandra started out this week having very little ski experience. By the end, she was skiing red (US blue/black) runs!

I know there are an excessive number of shots of the Matterhorn, but it was just that beautiful!

Hanging out at Iglu Bar.

The inside was pretty cool, too. Carved from snow/ice.

Group photo--didn't QUITE work out the first time.

Better.

Sandra was soon joined by Chris, and then a random stranger, and they all mimicked the beavers on the fountain together.

View of the Matterhorn from the Italian side.

Frutti di mare at Etoile.

Taken while skiing, I think.

And this one.

These brave souls were carrying their skis up along this cliff to ski down.

Sandra, after whizzing past me on the last day :)

Kim.

Picture with my Black Horse Espresso cup from home!

Min's lost glove was recovered!

And they all lived happily ever after . . . Until it was time to leave.
And I was trying to upload a short video, but apparently Blogger doesn't like my footage, so . . . I'll just say it was an amazingly beautiful place and I wasn't ready to leave the peace and solitude and pristine-ness of the mountains. But very grateful for the chance to go, and with such fun people as well!
